Tesco Ireland has been recognised as The Green Retailer of the Year at the Green Awards 2025, honouring the company’s continued leadership in sustainability through its comprehensive Planet Plan framework.

The Planet Plan, structured around six key pillars, drives Tesco’s commitment to delivering for customers, communities, and the planet. The retailer has made tangible progress on critical sustainability fronts, including climate action, packaging reduction, food waste management, and responsible sourcing, supported by transparent, measurable goals.

The judging panel praised Tesco Ireland for presenting “a professional programme with a long legacy and a well-managed approach,” noting that its initiatives were “fully aligned with core business activities.” Judges highlighted Tesco’s strong waste reduction strategies and its consistent, results-driven execution across multiple environmental priorities.

Now entering its 18th year, the Green Awards 2026 continue to serve as Ireland’s foremost platform for recognising organisations driving real impact in sustainability and environmental innovation. Since 2008, the awards have celebrated the country’s most forward-thinking companies, inspiring meaningful change across every sector.
