Bank of Ireland has extended its sustainability-linked Enviroflex loan product to beef farmers for the first time, partnering with Certified Irish Angus Producer Group to make the reduced-rate financing available to approximately 12,000 farming members across Ireland.

As reported by Think Business, Enviroflex loans are designed to reward farmers who invest in environmentally focused farm improvements through reduced interest rates. The product has already gained traction across the dairy and tillage sectors since its initial rollout, with the beef expansion marking a significant broadening of its reach across Irish agriculture.

Mark Glennon, Agri Development Manager at Bank of Ireland, said: "Since first launching the product, we have seen significant demand from farmers looking to enhance their farms' sustainability, and we are delighted that we are now able to expand this product to the beef sector. We understand that a more sustainable farm is a more efficient and profitable one in the long term."

Charles Smith, General Manager of Certified Irish Angus, said the announcement would be "warmly welcomed" by the group's 12,000 farming members, adding: "We are confident that Bank of Ireland's Enviroflex offering will provide targeted support to our members so that they can continue to implement and enhance environmental measures on-farm along with enjoying the genetic improvements of the Angus breed for years to come."

The partnership also incorporates Certified Irish Angus's Elevate Bonus programme, a tailored sustainability initiative introduced in 2026 to incentivise and reward members for delivering sustainability improvements on their farms, alongside driving genetic improvement and safeguarding the long-term value of Angus cattle production.

Bank of Ireland said the expansion reflects strong and growing demand among farmers for financial products directly aligned with on-farm sustainability performance, with the lender positioning Enviroflex as a tool for making sustainable investment commercially accessible across all segments of the Irish agricultural sector.
