As a recall to the Green Awards 2026 earlier this year, Astellas Dublin has been named winner of both the Sustainable Energy Achievement Award and the Sustainability Team of the Year award, recognised for a sustainability programme that combined technical ambition, cross-functional teamwork, and measurable results across decarbonisation, renewables, and green lab initiatives at its Irish operations.
The award, announced on 24 February 2026 at the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road, reflects a sustainable business that has embedded sustainability so deeply into its operations that targets have not merely been met but surpassed, setting a blueprint that has extended its influence across Astellas sites in Asia, Europe, and the USA.
On the Sustainable Energy Achievement Award, judges stated: "A strong renewables investment strategy, the elimination of F-Gas refrigerants, and impressive certification outcomes demonstrated serious commitment to decarbonisation. What truly stood out was the site's leadership beyond Ireland, setting a blueprint for operations across Asia, Europe, and the USA, while also driving real change closer to home through employee engagement, EV adoption, and commuting reduction initiatives. With sustainability deeply embedded in its DNA and targets not just met but surpassed, this work represents energy leadership at its very best."
On the Sustainability Team of the Year, the panel added: "Astellas Dublin combined a clear team structure with a technically robust portfolio across decarbonisation, renewables, and green labs, proving how a focused, cross-functional group can drive system-level change. With every project showing measurable environmental and cost benefits, strong senior leadership backing, and creative thinking throughout, the impact was both credible and far-reaching."
Astellas Dublin joins a cohort of Green Awards winners demonstrating that Ireland's life sciences sector can lead on sustainability when ambition, team capability, and governance are properly aligned. The double recognition raises the bar for what the 2027 awards cycle will expect from entrants across both energy and team sustainability categories.
