The Asia-Pacific is emerging as the epicentre of green industrial transformation, accounting for nearly half of global clean energy investment and half of global electricity demand. Governments are using sector-specific policies — from subsidies and tax breaks to targeted industrial missions — to drive decarbonisation, renewables adoption, and sustainable production.

China leads the charge, set to surpass 1,500 GW of renewable capacity by 2030 and expanding its Emissions Trading Scheme to cover 60% of national emissions. India is pursuing bold bets on hydrogen and green steel, while Southeast Asia faces a US$210 billion investment gap to reach net zero by 2050.

Yet bottlenecks remain. Coal still dominates Asia’s power mix at 82%, while fragmented regulation and weak grid infrastructure threaten to slow progress. Global pressure, including the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, is forcing exporters to accelerate transparency and carbon pricing.
