Northern Ireland-based renewable energy company Premier Electrical Group has acquired Natural Generation, a solar energy solutions provider headquartered in Perranporth, Cornwall, as part of a strategic push to expand its footprint across Great Britain, Cornwall Live reports.
The Ballynahinch firm, which specialises in renewable energy solutions, said the acquisition creates a combined business of almost 50 staff. Premier Electrical Group has set a target of nearly doubling its annual turnover to £15 million (approximately €17.7 million) within two to three years, through growth across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, and Great Britain.
Thomas Walsh, co-founder and director of Premier Electrical Group, said: "Premier Electrical Group began with the belief that renewable energy should be built on trust, not just technology. We saw a gap in the market for honest, expert-led solar services that put people first."
He added that in Natural Generation the group had found "a company that shares our values and ethos and gives us huge potential to grow the business further across the UK and Ireland."
Walsh noted that increasing demand from businesses, farmers, schools, and homeowners seeking to reduce electricity bills has driven significant growth over the past five years, with ten new jobs already created in Northern Ireland as a result.
Brendan O'Connor, co-founder and director of Premier Electrical Group, said the company was "proud to say we were among the first to bring solar to Northern Ireland" and expressed ambition to now lead clean energy expansion in England.
Colin Gregory, director of Natural Generation, described the acquisition as "a partnership that makes perfect sense," citing the opportunity to enhance service delivery across Cornwall and the South West of England.
