French engineering group VINCI Energies, through its Omexom teams, has been awarded two turnkey EPC contracts by Neoen for the Garr and Johnstown North solar farms in Ireland. Each contract is paired with a 20-year operations and maintenance agreement, tying the contractor to the assets long after construction ends.
VINCI Energies is a division of VINCI and reported revenue of €21.6 billion for 2025, with operating income of €1.6 billion and a workforce of more than 109,000. Neoen is a French renewable energy producer now owned by Brookfield, with 8.2GW of capacity in operation or under construction as of August 2025 across solar, wind and battery storage.
The structural driver is the bundling of build and long-term operation for utility-scale solar. Omexom will handle detailed design and engineering studies, administrative and grid compliance procedures, equipment procurement, civil, mechanical and electrical works and commissioning, then provide preventive and corrective maintenance for the facilities and the private sections of the grid connection infrastructure.
The 162MWp Garr Solar Farm in County Offaly is Neoen’s first project in the county and will rank among the largest photovoltaic plants in Ireland. It is expected to supply more than 38,000 households and avoid over 51,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year, with commissioning scheduled for 2029.
The 33MWp Johnstown North Solar Farm in County Wicklow, about 70 kilometres south of Dublin, will be the third photovoltaic plant Omexom has delivered in the county. It should power around 8,000 households and avoid more than 10,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually, with construction continuing until March 2028. Both projects were awarded in the fourth Renewable Electricity Support Scheme auction.
VINCI Energies says the contracts demonstrate Omexom’s expertise in designing, delivering and operating renewable generation infrastructure and strengthen its presence in Ireland.
For the sector, the awards show developers contracting a single partner for both construction and two decades of maintenance, an arrangement that gives solar owners continuity of technical responsibility.
