Dawn Meats has been named winner of the Green Food & Beverage Award at the Green Awards 2026, recognised for a credible and mature sustainability programme that addresses the full complexity of large-scale food production while maintaining a disciplined focus on measurable progress and long-term accountability.
The award, announced on 24 February 2026 at the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road, reflects an organisation that has embedded sustainability across every layer of its operation rather than treating it as a standalone workstream.
Judges were clear in their assessment, saying, "This entrant delivered a strong and credible sustainability programme within a highly complex and resource-intensive food system. Sustainability is clearly embedded from strategy through to measurable results, supported by well-defined targets and a disciplined approach to tracking progress.”
“The focus on responsible sourcing, supplier support, and close engagement with Irish agriculture stood out, alongside meaningful community involvement. Together, these elements reflect a mature, sector-appropriate approach that demonstrates leadership, accountability, and long-term commitment in food and beverage sustainability," the panel stated.
The Green Food & Beverage Award recognises producers who can demonstrate that sustainability and commercial food production are not in tension but are in fact mutually reinforcing when approached with genuine strategic commitment. Dawn Meats has made that case convincingly, offering a model that others across Ireland's food and beverage sector can look to as a practical benchmark.
As the Green Awards near their two-decade milestone, Dawn Meats joins a cohort of winners demonstrating that meaningful environmental progress in food production is achievable at scale when leadership, supply chain partnership, and community engagement are aligned behind a clear and credible strategy.
