David Maguire, Founder and CEO of BNRG Renewables, has been confirmed as a member of the judging panel for the Green Transformation Awards 2026, bringing over 25 years of experience across the environmental and renewable energy sectors to a programme that recognises Irish organisations driving systemic change in sustainable business practice.

Maguire founded BNRG with a focus on developing, constructing, and operating utility-scale solar power plants, and has since built the company into a globally active renewable energy developer with operational assets in the United States and Europe.

To date, the group has deployed over $650 million in capital, constructed 400 MW of solar capacity across Europe and the US, and maintains a development pipeline of more than 5.5 GW of active projects across the USA, Canada, Ireland, the UK, and Australia.

The company is on target to power over 1.9 million homes annually by 2030, a scale of ambition that reflects nearly two decades of building best-in-class utility solar projects across multiple jurisdictions. Maguire was a finalist in the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2024 programme in the International category, recognition of the commercial and environmental impact of that work.

His credentials as an environmental scientist underpin the commercial career that followed. He holds Masters degrees from the National University of Ireland and the University of Wales in Environmental Sciences and Resource Management, and held positions at the Environmental Protection Agency with responsibility for research and development before moving into renewable energy. That scientific foundation gives his panel contribution an analytical depth that goes beyond project delivery into the question of genuine environmental impact.

His sector leadership is equally significant. Maguire was a founder of the Alliance for Affordable Solar Energy in Europe and a founder and Chairman of the Irish Solar Energy Association from 2013 to 2021, roles that placed him at the forefront of shaping the policy and commercial environment for renewable energy development across Ireland and Europe.

The Green Transformation Awards 2026 spans 22 categories recognising sustainability excellence across organisation size, sector, and transformation type. Maguire joins Judging Coordinator Daragh Anglim of Broadlake, Nicholas Holden of Proveye, Rosie O'Neill of An Post, Ian Phillips of Anua Clean Air International, and Antonio Vieira Santos of Eviden.

The awards gala will take place on 6 November 2026 at the Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire. Entries close on 24 July 2026.
