New York City-based recycling and circular economy services provider Circular Services has opened a 120,000-square-foot materials recovery facility (MRF) in Frisco, Texas, representing a $61 million (approximately €51.2 million) investment in recycling infrastructure for the Dallas Metroplex.
As reported by Recycling Today, the facility broke ground in March 2025 and was officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on 16 April 2026, attended by municipal officials, industry representatives, and community partners. Built to serve McKinney, Frisco, and surrounding communities, the facility processes single-stream recyclables for residents and businesses with a focus on maximising recovery rates and directing commodities to domestic markets.
Ron Gonen, CEO of Circular Services, said: "North Texas is one of the fastest-growing regions in the country, and with that growth comes a responsibility to manage resources wisely. By capturing valuable materials that would otherwise cost taxpayers to landfill and keeping them in circulation, we save the community landfill disposal costs and generate revenue for our municipal and commercial partners."
The facility combines optical sorters, a state-of-the-art glass cleanup system, and energy-efficient design with public-facing drop-off kiosks for materials not collected curbside. It is expected to create approximately 35 full-time jobs and will anchor Frisco's broader Environmental Campus, which will also feature a transfer station and municipal environmental services offices.
Jeremy Starritt, Frisco assistant director of Public Works, described the facility as the very first step in our new Environmental Campus, adding that the partnership with Circular Services brings both environmental and financial benefits for our residents and businesses.
