An Post has been named winner of the Green Large Organisation of the Year (1000+ Employees) at the Green Awards 2026, recognised for a sustainability programme that demonstrated how the scale and national reach of a large public organisation can be channelled into measurable, far-reaching environmental impact across operations, supply chains, and communities nationwide.
The award, announced on 24 February 2026 at the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road, reflects an organisation that has moved sustainability from corporate commitment into operational reality across every dimension of how it runs.
Judges were direct in their praise. "This entrant delivered exceptional sustainability impact at scale, combining ambition with disciplined execution. Measurable carbon reductions, circular economy leadership, and biodiversity restoration showed sustainability embedded across operations and supply chains. By leveraging its national reach to enable greener choices for businesses and communities, this organisation proved how scale can be a force for positive change," the panel stated.
The Green Large Organisation of the Year recognises businesses and organisations with 1,000 or more employees that can demonstrate sustainability embedded with genuine ambition, measurable outcomes, and impact that extends beyond the organisation itself. An Post has met every dimension of that standard and set a clear marker for others at similar scale.
As the Green Awards near their two-decade milestone, An Post joins a cohort of winners proving that large organisations, when they commit fully to sustainability, have the capacity to drive change at a scale that smaller entities simply cannot match.
