Norman Crowley, CEO & Founder, Crowley Carbon

Norman is a successful international entrepreneur and philanthropist with a keen focus on sustainability and tackling climate change.

Originally from Cork, Norman has long been connected with the challenge of climate change and has combined entrepreneurial skills with his environmental passion.

In 2010, he founded Crowley Carbon with the vision of becoming a major player in the 1 trillion-dollar global energy services market. Crowley Carbon is now a global leader in energy services and solar services with offices in Europe, North and South America, Asia and Australia. Clients of Crowley Carbon include Google, Bunge, Johnson & Johnson, Associated British Foods, PepsiCo and Intel. Norman cites the creation of Crowley Carbon as igniting his passion for action on climate.

In 2017, Crowley Carbon established the Cool Planet Foundation. The foundation is opening 10 education centres across the globe with a vision to engage the public and schools, not only on the impact of global warming and what it is doing to our planet but also to focus on the new technologies and solutions that are being developed to advance a carbon free future. The first centre was opened in early 2018 by Sir Richard Branson in Ireland. Cool Planet has now also established Cool Planet Ventures to encourage teams to develop businesses to help mitigate the effects of Climate Change.

Apart from his campaigning business mission, Crowley is also an outstanding business operator in his own right having built two highly successful tech empires (Trinity Commerce and Inspired Gaming – valued at €500 million).

The passion for all things green extends to his private life and in his spare time Norman converts classic cars into Electric Hypercars. His engineering team is currently building a 1961 Corvette Stingray to run 0 to 60mph in 2.2 seconds.

The combination of an entrepreneurial spirit, a keen focus on the climate change challenge and his green philanthropy make Norman Crowley a worthy recipient of the 2019 Green Leader award.
