Maria has been involved in sustainability as a student, researcher and practitioner.  As UCC Sustainability Officer, Dr Kirrane led UCC in becoming the only university outside of North America to achieve a STARS Gold Rating from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education.  Maria also delivers training workshops to universities and public sector organisations both nationally and internationally.
